SESSION 1: "MODEL AND INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK"

Objective: To generate a common understanding of the situation of the returned population, present the worker cooperative model as a potential response to their economic reintegration challenges, and spark interest in exploring this alternative.

This session presents the current landscape of return migration in Guatemala, including key data, profiles of returned persons, and available services to support their reintegration process.

The cooperative model is also addressed as a viable alternative, highlighting its legal framework, its strengths, and the opportunities it offers for generating income and building collective economic initiatives.

Throughout the webinar, the relationship between migration, participation, and community economic development is explored, along with learnings from international experiences that demonstrate the potential of worker cooperatives as an option for job creation.
